THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST IN YOU

FALSE GRACE BE GONE

A law culture provides no barrier against sin. Legalism shrinks the soul and provides the illusion of self-made grace. Living from the law does not make us righteous or a whole person.

As legalists we can be among the most irritating and gross representatives of Christianity. Why? We are forever judging ourselves and judging others. Some of the worst ‘gas lighters’ are legalistic Christian administrators. By agreeing with Christ that He has included us in His life and and knowing that He vicariously is us, we enjoy the freedom to be ourselves that is ours in
Christ our life. You have an innate glory that comes from your identity as a created son/daughter and a redeemed daughter/son.

The point of salvation is not to be Paul, John or even Jesus of Nazareth. It is to be the authentic and one-off you that you are by creation and redemption. Hidden in Christ we are re-created as the True Self. In this living way we are alive as persons and life-givers to others.

KNOW THAT CHRIST HAS YOU
Leanne Payne wrote, “
Until this redeemed self is acknowledged and accepted, we live out of the immature, un-affirmed self, and we cannot hear God aright. From that centre, we also “mishear” our fellows, and they become the target of the diseased “matter” that yet resides within our souls—that is, our fears of rejection, our bitterness, envy, anger, and sense of inferiority. These invariably project themselves into the minds and hearts of those we love the most, piercing them like deadly arrows. Until we accept the new self, we are dangerous to ourselves and to others; even though we are Christians, we are still enthralled by the voices of this world and obey them. We fail to abide in Christ and instead remain self-conscious.”  (1)

Agreeing with Jesus that He is us, is obedience. It is the living way to be a river of grace, love, creativity and joy. The movie ‘Dead Poets Society’ told of ‘sucking the marrow out of life’. Jesus called this life without limit and living life to the full. We do this by agreeing with Him that He is our life and living the
eucharist as a life instead of a rite. It’s about living Christ consciousness rather than in sin consciousness.
This means instead of beating yourself up after falling into one of your well practised sins, you go right on in Christ and try to do better another day. But keep in mind that ‘Jesus accepts you as you are rather than as you should be’. This quote comes from a man who struggled with alcoholism all his life. He learned the truth that Christ is His life rather than His own lack of it.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not obsessed with our sins and sinning. Jesus has taken care of that. What God enjoys is our living in Christ by living in the oneness with God and the fullness of life that He has won for us and that flows from Himself. God’s passion is fellowship with you in the sonship/daughtership Jesus has provided. Give God joy in living your inclusion in God in Jesus Christ.
